The acts of The Joker produces anarchy and chaos in the people of Gotham, forcing Batman to come to terms to which may seem to be his greatest test to fight injustice and come closer to the fine line between hero and vigilante. For sure, The Dark Knight surpasses Batman Begins in each way. From my point of view the best movie ever made. And I saw it for 12-15 times now.
But do yourself a favor and look Batman Begins after seeing The Dark Knight. I noticed a perfect continuity in both movies.
When I save Batman Begins I thought "ok, that is a really good Batman movie. Instead of the 90s ones." But Batman Begins has so much to say. It contents a lot of things which are very important for the understanding and reliability of the character Batman. For that reason Batman Begins was the start of a story which could of course not be that impressive like The Dark Knight. Batman Begins and The Dark Knight fit perfect together: Do you remember the last words in Batman Begins? as I am from Germany I don't know the exact English words) Lt. Gordon shows a card of the Joker to Batman talking about a robbery with two dead people. Batman answers "I will take care" or something like that. When you watch The Dark Knight directly after that you have the perfect 5 hour movie with continuously growing speed, drama, anything.
I wonder if there will be another movie of Batman. Although I would love to see more of Batman I don't know if the level can be held or laid up. Question to the really Comic Fans: Is there any story about Batman when he got hunted by Gothams citizens? From my point of view it had to be, because of the continuity from The Dark Knight to the succeeding movie.
